What do you think of Houston so far?

Use the Houston Press to help you find all the cool places to go and eat, and generally learn more than the Chronicle will report. I'm sure your girlfriend can fill in the rest. Although, I'm native to Houston, and I still don't know it all!

How's the kitty doing?

Elder Daughter is moving to Houston end of next month, so I should be making the trip from Austin quite a bit more frequently. Nice folks and good eats in Houston!

I live in Fort Bend County but work in Houston. There are a few of us around

There is a Battleground Texas meeting on Sunday if you are interested. I will be at a fundraiser for Juanita Jean on Saturday night but if I survive that event, I may try to go to the Battleground event

Of course, I live west of I-35, so you can't give me much credit. The Empty Quarter is seldom in the thoughts of the I-35 corridor or the Gulf Coast!

You really will enjoy living in Houston - we were there for a couple of years in the early 90s while I did some contract work. All the amenities of a large city, and I think traffic moves better there than most cities that size.
