Man perched on U.S. 90 overpass surrenders to police

More than three hours after a man fought with his wife and walked out on a far West Side overpass threatening to jump, police negotiators talked him into surrendering.

The name of the man hasn't been released.

The incident caused police to shut down the main lanes of U.S. 90 in both directions from about 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Traffic was diverted at the Hunt Lane exit on each side of the highway.

Police originally got a call for a disturbance between a man and his wife near the Step N Go gas station on Hunt Lane, said Sgt. Javier Salazar, a spokesman for SAPD.

[font color=green]The only question that I have is whether the man was one of the Overpasses for America protesters like the people mentioned in this thread, http://www.democraticunderground.com/107811943 ?
