Only one of seven defendants appears at arraignment in murder case
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS -- Six fugitives wanted for Brownsvilles only murder of the year failed to appear in court for arraignments Thursday morning.
And another defendant, Felipe Alvaro Cabrera, 30, who was arrested on Feb. 11 as he tried to enter the country at the B&M Bridge, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and engaging in organized criminal activity, Cameron County District Attorneys Office spokeswoman Melissa Zamora confirmed.
The men who failed to appear, Jose Luis Ibarra Morales, 30; Edgar Javier Tafoya Robles, 24; Abraham Alegria Ruiz, 27; Diego Armando Segovia, 25; and Christian Omar Camero, 29; and Javier Garza Medrano, 37, are wanted for the Jan. 11 murder of Juan Manuel Ocanas Barrientos. Their whereabouts are unknown.
The men, who are all charged with murder and engaging in organized criminal activity, were scheduled for arraignment in 445th state District Court in Cameron County.
