Texas: Where Corruption and Lying is a Prerequisite for Office

By Carol Morgan

The early voting for primary run-offs began yesterday; a short cycle akin to the lifespan of a housefly and just about nasty. Ho-hum…

These races are far less than underwhelming, they’re nausea-producing. Examine the slate of candidates holistically and you must conclude: Corruption, lying and deception is a prerequisite for political office in Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas, even the unethical political behavior.

Dewhurst versus Patrick. What a choice! The political panderer versus the crazy (certifiably!) Patrick is the worst of the two evils. If you’re leaning his way, you should read Mimi Scwartz’ article “Here Comes Trouble” in the Texas Monthly. If elected, kiss public education bye-bye and expect a Christian-version of Sharia Law in less than two years; he’s that extreme.

And in the office that’s the supreme law of Texas, two ethically-challenged twits, Paxton and Branch. The election of either would be like electing Hermann Goerring to the Anti-Defamation League. It might be more prudent to have “Lucifer” as a write-in.

Texas can go blue. We need the nation's support though. Quit writing us off as not winnable!

The craziest and most corrupt are assured election. Far too many Texans are proud of their own ignorance.

They don't seem to understand that the very grave they are digging is their own. That they are, merely useful idiots.

They are convinced that liberals are the only thing standing between them and mountains of wealth.

Useful idiots, indeed.
