Related: About this forumAnybody near Austin who would adopt this good dog?
I was looking at Austin Craigslist because someone on DU Pets forum had found a dog, and the owner was difficult to track down.
I saw this ad that tugged at my heartstrings- a person is ill and doctor said it's time to find a new home for 12-year-old nice male dog, because soon the person will not be able to care for the dog.
"Duke is part Pharoah Hound, Greyhound, Basenji, and German Shepherd. He loves to cuddle and kiss, and if you throw a ball he will adore you for life.
This is extremely difficult for me, and I will only let him go with good people with a yard."

We adopted our wonderful dog after her original rescuer had to be cared for by hospice, so it seems the situations are similar.

(9,126 posts)I know that is so heartbreaking and a source of great anxiety for people who are facing losing their homes or even dying. It was for my mother and I promised her I would take care of her dog which I did. What you did for the dog and the rescuer cannot be measured. I hope this beautiful dog found a good home.
