Curses! I was hoping that at the very least the cuckoo-egg Farenholt would be sent packing.

This is a bad night. I've hoped for better for nearly 20 years and I see no reason this evening to believe that even a bare majority of Texas voters will turn away from voting stupid. I am beginning to think that so many of my fellow Texans are so addled that nothing, nothing can get them to start voting to protect their own interests.

I'm nearly 60. I feel like one of the post-Reconstruction Texas Republicans of the 1870's. I don't see things getting better in my lifetime, no matter how howling awful the Tea-publicans make this state for non-whites and shirt-sleeve and middle-class Texans.

I've waited in vain for a new generation of progressive voters to arise and put things to rights. I'm increasingly convinced that the younger generations are content to be kicked in the teeth and force-fed ordure from the incumbent political establishment.

In the top four races the GOP candidates received 59%-60% of the vote. There are still some large urban counties that haven't reported, but I don't expect any of the Democratic candidates to get more than 41%-42%. Overall, I'm disgusted and I don't have much faith that things are ever going to get better. It seems like there is about 95% of the people that have already made up their minds and any variation between elections comes down to the remaining 5% and whether they decide to vote.

I feel like we're turning into Mississippi. But I think one reason we've turned so stubbornly red is because of our large population. We pull 27 electoral votes, so guess what? Texas is infiltrated with red shit from all over the country. (Red money, red this and that) There is a lot at stake to keep this state red.

My 2 cents.

Texas has 38 electoral votes (36 for the number of congressional districts and 2 at-large).
