Optimus Prime for Texas governor? Write-in votes run the gamut

Would Autobot leader Optimus Prime have the mettle to transform Texas government?
AUSTIN One Denton County voter was apparently looking a little too hard for a transformative leader for governor this year: He or she wrote in Optimus Prime.
In Texas, such votes dont count. When the secretary of state declared the election results final Monday, Republican Greg Abbott was affirmed the winner for governor, with more than 59 percent of the votes cast statewide. The only write-in votes that counted were the 604 cast for Sarah Pavitt of Austin, the only authorized write-in candidate.
But that didnt stop more than 1,000 Texans from jotting down the a medley of former politicians, historical figures and celebrities real and otherwise.
Looking for a man of action, perhaps, some wanted Chuck Norris. Others hoped for a miracle, putting down Jesus Christ or Pope Francis as their choice.
