Yes, Austin is looking at hosting a bowl game

The Austin Sports Commission is in talks with networks, sponsors and the University of Texas about bringing a bowl game here for December or January.

Lance Aldridge, executive director of the commission, told the American-Statesman he is hoping the game will be played at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

Randy Cohen, owner of Austin-based Ticket City, confirmed to the Statesman that he is in talks to sponsor the bowl. Cohen’s company has served as the title sponsor for games in Dallas and Arizona.

The game could pit teams from Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference.
