TxDOT calls out AT&T for causing costly delays
ALTON Two years ago the Texas Department of Transportation awarded a $16.8 million contract to widen about 1.8 miles of the Farm-to-Market Road 681 from two to five lanes.
Foremost Paving Inc. has only been able to complete about 35 percent of the project, said Trey Pebley, the companys chief administrative officer and McAllen District 2 commissioner.
AT&T is the hang up for this project, Pebley said. We have most of drainage work complete but havent been able to start road construction.
A TxDOT spreadsheet listed 58 projects throughout the state that have been delayed because AT&T has not relocated its utility lines in a timely manner. AT&T has caused $21.5 million in total additional project costs, according to the spreadsheet. The list was published online by the El Paso Times.
