Border Patrol supervisor from Laredo arrested for larceny--collected $108K in SS benefits illegally
A Border Patrol supervisor from Laredo has been arrested after he allegedly committed larceny by wrongfully collecting more than $108,000 in Social Security benefits, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced late Tuesday.
An indictment was unsealed following the arrest of the supervisor, identified as James J. Doran, 54.
Doran is expected to make his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Scott Hacker on Wednesday.
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.
The investigation leading up to the indictment was conducted by the Social Security Administration-Office of Inspector General, Department of Homeland Security-Office of Inspector General and the Bureau of Vital Statistics Fraud Unit.
