Related: About this forumI'm screwed now! Rep. Blake Farenthold (R) has found me.
Wouldn't this scare you if he showed up knocking at your door?
I opened the mail box about 30 minutes ago and found a mailer that includes a "2015 Official Federal Survey" with a return address to Rep. Farenthold's office.
I have not registered on his Website or on any other RW Websites so I'm shocked to receive the mailer--I suppose that his office obtained my name from voter registration records. My brother is far more likely to vote for Blake than I am (if he votes at all) and he did not receive the mailer.
To top it off Blake is making another round of town halls throughout the district. He will be in Wharton at 8 a.m. on October 15 at the local coffee shop so I might have to stay up late to attend (which is much more likely than waking up early to attend an afternoon meeting).
Here are the questions on the "official survey":
1) Do you believe our country is on the right track?
Right Track
Wrong Track
Unsure
2) Rank the following issues in order of importance to you.
Health Care

Veterans
Taxes
Education
Planned Parenthood

Government Spending and Debt
Transportation

3) What is your opinion of the U.S. House of Representatives?

4) Do you favor or oppose Obamacare?

5) Do you favor or oppose raising the debt ceiling?

6) Do you favor or oppose taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood?

9) Do you favor or oppose a pathway to citizenship?

There is also a space for additional comments.
I don't think that Blake is going to like my responses to his "official survey". It might take a few minutes to prioritize the order of the issues in the second question though. Since there is a registration code on the mailer it also means that it is not a secret ballot. I will not fill out the portion of the mailer asking for my name and email address so that I can receive Blake's weekly e-newsletter though.

(24,780 posts)But I've found once you give the right answers to those questionnaires, you don't get them anymore.

(112,150 posts)but slam the door on Blake.
I intended to attend Blake's town hall at the library a couple of months ago, but I was not feeling well that day and it wasn't worth riding my bike over a mile to see him.
I suspect that you are correct about not receiving any more questionnaires since Republicans like living in echo chambers.

(112,150 posts)Besides, the cost won't be paid by him since it says that "this mailing was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense."
Damn the franking privilege! At least I have some stamps laying around though since nearly everything that I mailed in the past year-and-a-half doesn't require a stamp except for my tax return and select pieces of mail to Southwestern (although the envelope for making a donation doesn't require a stamp either).

(14,559 posts)Then I send the postage paid envelopes back empty or filled with expired cupons.
Costs .47 to get it to me and .47 to get it back. That's .94 that won't go to other stuff.
