Paxton drops contractors on tech project that’s $107M over estimated cost

AUSTIN — Attorney General Ken Paxton has removed 11 technology contractors who were working on a problem-plagued upgrade to the state’s child-support data system.

The shakeup comes as House members are set next week to begin an investigation into how the project’s cost soared to $310 million — and why there’s little to show for it.

In recent weeks, Paxton let go technology contract employees and at least one director assigned to work on the data project, known as T2, The Dallas Morning News confirmed.

The departures come after reports in The News and the Austin American-Statesman detailing repeated failures by state officials and the vendor, tech giant Accenture, to deliver promised work on time.

When will the state learn never to sign a contract with Accenture? They have a record of non-performance on state contracts and their project management teams are lead by 30-somethings that are busy working on their resumés trying to find better jobs.
