Former Tenet executive to face criminal charges over bribery scheme that defrauded Medicaid

A former executive of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare has been indicted on charges of bribery and defrauding Medicaid, The Miami Herald reports today.

The executive, John Holland, was a senior vice president at Tenet, when the alleged illegal activity occurred. Holland now works as CEO of LHP Hospital Group in Plano.

According to the Herald, Holland is facing charges of facilitating a scheme to pay $12 million in kickbacks to clinics in South Carolina and Georgia to prompt providers to refer pregnant women to Tenet hospitals.

The clinics served predominantly undocumented Hispanic women. Medicaid would reimburse Tenet for the services.
