Actor and activist George Takei takes 'Star Trek'-like aim at President Trump's immigration polices

UNIVERSITY PARK — Hollywood luminary George Takei came to Southern Methodist University on Thursday night and wasted no time in voicing his displeasure about the current American president.

Now 79, Takei remembers being a five-year-old boy, sent to a Japanese internment camp with his parents soon after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

As an openly gay activist, he has campaigned fiercely for the rights of LGBT Americans.

And as one of the stars of the 1960s television series Star Trek, he has used the platform of a cult sensation to lobby for cultural and racial diversity in American institutions.
