Trump era has maquiladora suppliers worried

Concerns over Trump administration policies cast a cloud of uncertainty over an El Paso trade show for suppliers of Mexico's manufacturing sector Thursday.

The suppliers are worried over which actions President Donald Trump might take with the North American Free Trade Agreement, as well as possible changes to other trade and immigration policies.

"Everybody is worried about what is going to happen, but so far nothing has happened. To renegotiate NAFTA would take more than a year," said Jorge Sepulveda, director of AFC Logistics, which has warehouse and trucking operations in El Paso and Chihuahua City. He spoke in front of his company's trade booth inside the El Paso convention center.

"I think business will be as usual. If the economy of the United States grows, that's good for us," he said.
