Laredo woman accused of taking $172K from employer
A woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly pocketing over $172,000 while employed at AB Homes, according to court documents.
Esmeralda Davila, 37, was charged with felony theft after being served with an arrest warrant at Laredo police headquarters.
Her case dates back to Jan. 22.
That day, a man reported to police that he recently discovered at least 15 previously voided checks that were being recreated with the same check number and cashed at various International Bank of Commerce locations, states the criminal complaint.
The complainant went to LPD headquarters Jan. 25 to talk about the case. He told investigators he suspected Davila.
