Teen, unborn child killed in San Antonio; suspected gunman hospitalized
SAN ANTONIO — A teenage girl and her unborn child were killed Monday on the Northwest Side by a man who attempted suicide but survived, police said.
"It's a very tragic scene and situation," said Ofc. Doug Greene, a spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department, who stopped during a press conference to wipe tears from his eyes. "This is one of the harder ones for us to go to."
Officers initially responded to the 1100 block of Babcock Road around 11 a.m. for what appeared to be an attempted suicide.
Inside the apartment, the body of 15-year-old Jennifer Delgado, who was nine months pregnant, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A 1-year-old child belonging to the victim was found unharmed.
