Collier plans run for lieutenant governor

Mike Collier wants to become Texas next lieutenant governor.
He wasnt always involved in politics, though.
The Georgetown resident initially leaned towards a music career when he played the trumpet in the marching band at Georgetown High School before graduating in 1979 and majoring in music at the University of Texas. Halfway through college, he switched to petroleum land management and worked at Exxon in Houston, then left to earn his MBA from UT.
Mr. Collier worked as an auditor and later, partner, at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the chief financial officer at Layline Petroleum, and finally, a certified public accountant. His years of experience in the business world would come in handy later when he felt driven to pursue politics.
Political aspirations
He decided to run for Texas comptroller in the 2014 election after learning no Democrats were going to enter the race for the position.
