I-35 in Temple shut down as TxDOT makes emergency repairs

Interstate 35 in Temple is closed as the Texas Department of Transportation workers to emergency repairs to a retaining wall that eroded in a construction area during heavy rain this morning.

Crews are working to stabilize the wall before reopening I-35 lanes. TxDOT expects the repair to take a minimum of two to three hours to make the needed repairs.

All traffic is detoured to Loop 363 around Temple until repairs are made.

Expect delays. Alternative routes are advised.

Also, on southbound I-35 near Eddy, a vehicle struck the back of an 18-wheeler at the end of the stackup. Traffic near Eddy is backed up, TxDOT reports.

I drive through there twice a month and that construction is awful. Whoever the GC is should be fired.

They shut down Salado a lot, due to accidents, weather or repair.

I feel bad for people driving through there today.

but I understand that the work around Salado is complete. It looks like it going to take until forever to fix the logjam from Temple to Waco. It's ridiculous that they didn't start expanding the Interstate in that area at least a decade ago.
