Univ. of North Texas faculty express 'shock, dismay and embarrassment' for upcoming Trump Jr. speech

On Friday, 87 University of North Texas faculty members went public with an open letter voicing their opposition to inviting Donald Trump Jr. to speak at an upcoming UNT guest speaker series.

In the letter, which can be read via the North Texas Daily here, faculty members detail their “profound shock, dismay, and embarrassment that the university we are so proud to serve would stoop to invite Donald Trump Jr. to speak in North Texas under UNT’s auspices.”

Since its original publication, more names have been added undersigning the letter.

The letter details the view of faculty members from at least 11 UNT departments that the invitation “evinces a stunning disrespect for women, people of color, LGBTQ members of our community, and others."

They should be asking for the opportunity for an open Q&A with randomly selected questions (right now the Q&A is prearranged questions provided in advance). They should also be putting forward a rebuttal speaker (either sharing the stage or after in some other venue).
