Bell County lawyer sentenced to 25 years in federal prison
Perry Don Cortese, a Little River-Academy lawyer, will spend the next 25 years in federal prison after he was sentenced for his part in an international money laundering conspiracy that took more than $8.8 million from lawyers and law firms across the United States.
Cortese was also held accountable for the conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
The decision was announced recently in a federal court in Tampa, Fla.
Priscilla Ann Ellis and Cortese were first arrested in August 2016 by federal agents and were taken to Florida for prosecution.
