Lubbock-Cooper student petitions against band boosters AR-15 raffle
LUBBOCK -- A local high school band boosters organization is raffling off five weapons - a fundraiser the group has successfully completed for two years in the past.
This year, some people are protesting.
The Lubbock-Cooper High School Pirate Band Boosters are a group of parents raising money for their children, who are members of the Lubbock-Cooper band.
Kevin Woelfel, president of the booster club, said this year they’ve added two compound bow sets and some fishing gear to the auction of five guns.
“This raffle was designed as a sportsman’s raffle,” Woelfel said. “The marketplace has told us the way we are doing it is successful.”
