Houston Texans cheerleaders berated, body-shamed by bosses who underpaid them, lawsuit says
Three former Houston Texans cheerleader say they were overworked, underpaid, ridiculed and body-shamed by their coaches and the team.
The women, who are seeking class-action status, have filed a lawsuit accusing the NFL team and their supervisors of failing to pay minimum wage and overtime as well as disregarding complaints that fans had physically assaulted them.
The cheerleaders are unnamed in the suit, but a women referred to as P.G.G. said she was cut from the squad in April after seeking improved working conditions.
The 2017 squad members filed the suit Tuesday in Houston federal court. It accuses the Texans and cheerleader programs director Altovise Gary of violating both the Texas Labor Code and the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. It does not specify the amount of damages sought.
