Gov. Abbott says Texas will prioritize Obamacare replacement as health care lawsuit continues

AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott said Texas will work to pass its own health care law to replace the Affordable Care Act if it's ultimately struck down in the courts.

In the wake of a Friday ruling that struck down the federal health care law, Abbott said Monday he will consult with the Trump administration on immediate next steps while state lawmakers and regulators fashion their own plan to succeed the ACA.

"As the ACA lawsuit goes through the appellate process, Texas will work with the Administration to get appropriate waivers from federal law allowing insurers to provide coverage at lower rates while ensuring that Texans with pre-existing conditions continue to have access to quality healthcare," Abbott said.

"Additionally, Texas will begin the process of reforming state regulations and proposing changes to laws that will achieve those same goals. Importantly, Texas will strive to expand healthcare insurance coverage, reduce the cost of healthcare, and ensure that Texans with pre-existing conditions are protected."

many achievements.

White America, mostly cons but some on the left, will work as hard as they have worked at anything ever to ruin Obama's legacy.

Boy would this be a violent place if you reversed all this.

He and the rest of the Texas legislative heroes are "all hat and no cattle". They know their attack on the ACA which for the first time allowed people to stay on their parents healthcare, no pre-existing exclusions, and AFFORDABLE and they attacked it for years. Now the chickens are coming home to roost. The GOP way is simply to push those with healthcare issues will be pushed into a "high risk" pool that is too expensive and a cheap plan for young people hoping to just talk a bunch of crap that is meaningless. I say vote out the archaic neanderthals and elect progressive politicians who actually care about the people instead of businesses.

He knows he fucked up and that people are watching and care so he trots out his repug lies. If Congress has done exactly zero to help working class people get affordable insurance, other than at the ACA, how can Texas with 1/52 of the clout do this "quickly"? Answer - they 100% will not do this. They will offer sub-standard BS with no coverage at best, if they do a damn thing at all. They will also wait to pass this just before the election so people don't get to experience it first and their BS will still fly with the idiots.

To ask Abbott how much medical costs have been lowered since tort reform passed in Texas in 2003. They are always talking about tort reform lowering costs. Hasn't happened in Texas, and we have had it for 15 years.
