'People are dying': Cowboys Dancehall's weekend concerts raising social distancing questions
SAN ANTONIO -- Cowboys Dancehall is at the center of social distancing concerns after two concerts were hosted at the mega venue over the weekend as COVID-19 continues its rampant spread.
Country musician Cody Johnson headlined two concerts at Cowboys on Friday and Saturday. Online promotions ahead of the shows urged fans to grab tickets early as capacity at each event would be limited in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, videos and photos posted from inside the Northeast Side spot show a filled-in dancefloor as fans gathered to watch Johnson perform. The posts were met with questions of how the venue was able to host the concerts as the local COVID-19 crisis worsens and other businesses have been forced to shutter.
"How is Cowboys Dancehall allowed to host a super spreader event?! Its so selfish seeing posts of people at the Cody Johnson concert," a Twitter user said. "Place looks full and of course no masks. People are dying. Our hospitals are full. Have some respect for Healthcare workers. #RantOver"
