Shooting accident results in death of 13-year-old boy

BEEVILLE — Investigators with the Bee County Sheriff’s Office are calling the shooting of a 13-year-old Beeville boy “a tragic accident.”

Officials would not confirm the name of the boy killed; however, those close to the family and other sources have identified the boy as Joe Andy Cardenas, 13.

According to obituary information supplied by the family, Cardenas is survived by his parents Armando and Janie Gonzales and three brothers and three sisters.

Investigator John Davis said the accident happened at about 4:22 p.m. Friday as three boys, ages 9, 12 and 13, were shooting in a trash pit at a residence on Moore Street just outside the city limits.

Some grownup needs to go to jail for involuntary manslaughter.

And NO, I don't think they've suffered enough or have learned a lesson or the other skygod shit. Actions have consequences. The kid has paid his. Now the negligent SOBs that allowed this to happen need to and the results published far and wide.

Maniacs don't have to go to school to shoot kids when irresponsible adults just hand guns to kids anyway.

Too bad they weren't throwing rocks at targets, isn't it? Of COURSE, guns don't kill. Assholes who give little kids guns kill.
