she's amazing - serious and smart; OUR FUTURE, if we are lucky!

Along with the East Indian born Judge KP George from the Fort Bend county in Texas!

When he said that Texas is the lone star state (Maddow show last night, Friday), all I could do was smile. I thought about John Wayne and the old west, and how this Judge George does not fit their stereotype of a lone stater...a white male libertarian-minded cowboy with his tobacco plug and chaps.... and what a wonderful country American can and will be - a model to the world - when we embrace our multiculturalism and diversity!!!

Judges are basically the chief county administrator and executive. There tends to be a county board of some sort elected by jurisdiction while the Judge s elected in a general election. I’m guessing some counties might elect the Judge through the county Board.

There are regular court judges but the county Judge runs the show.

Is that correct?

Each county is divided into four precincts which votes for a commissioner for that precinct. The county judge is a countywide race. Therefore, it is possible to gerrymander the precincts to favor a partisan result.

County judges, as presiding supervisors of the commissioners courts, help govern county government, including providing safety protection, public transportation, parks, hospitals and buildings, providing zoning, waste, water and permit regulations, levying and collecting taxes for county and municipal organizations and overseeing and enforcing more specific duties, as laid out by Texas statutes. Though county judges are presiders, they may not veto the commissioners.

Hey since we’re off here. How are you doing?

Love your posts.

My daughter is having some trouble with the at home thing. I trust you enough to say that.

Because of either sheer laziness, lack of transportation, or bad weather I haven't gone outside except for one instance. I found out that wheelchairs and ice don't make a good combination and I need one of those naval icebreakers to proceed me if I'm going outdoors.

The good news is that a new convenience store opened about two blocks away, so other than risking my life in the shoulder of a two way street, I should at least be able to get some food without having to get on a bus or asking my brother for help. I'm actually looking forward to going grocery shopping next week though. Oh, and we didn't lose electricity or water, but the garbage disposal isn't working and the dishwasher drain is clogged.

Watching the cats wrestle with each other is also entertaining, especially when the kitten stands on her hind legs like Godzilla to attack the older cat. Maybe that is what your daughter needs at her home?

He flashes between brilliance and being a dog. I didn’t want a dog but we are best buds and he makes me laugh.

I hope the convenience store delivers.

I look forward to watching her rise. She'd make a helluva replacement for Cruz in the U.S. Senate.
