I'm so angry right now because this is my district, (I live in the blue area of the map below). All Democrats in Arlington had to do was show up. I don't have the final turnout numbers. Several of these areas which are red are predominately Black and Hispanic. They were also blue in the presidential race.

TX06 will be a runoff between Susan Wright and Jake Elzie, both hard-right Trumpers.

Then, Arlington's mayor race is going to a runoff between Jim Ross and Michael Gillespie. Ross was the big business candidate and Gillespie is a Trumper.

(3,336 posts)My precinct showed up, and we are still blue. I don't know why the rest of them didn't go.

(74 posts)And a lot of republicans actually voted for Biden. I see this same thing happening in 22. Many seats sadly will flip.

(22,274 posts)they were good enough to win. The Democratic vote was split every way to Sunday which put the Republicans in a running chance to score the top two spots. Which they did.
I know Jana Lynn and Lydia Bean both very well, and am very fond of both of them but I really wish Lydia had sat this one out. I have no doubt she pulled enough votes that had she not been in the race, Jana would be in that runoff.
I am quite certain (other than Jana and Lydia), the other Democrats in the race were just in it to get some name recognition. (or maybe even stealth Republicans on the ballot just to pull votes away from the front runner)
For what it's worth, I can't even vote in that district. I am in TX12; our rep is Kay Granger who was the only member of the House on that plane to Russia. We are never going to get rid of her by voting her out either; I fully expect her to keep running until she just keels over.

(3,336 posts)Our state party doesnt have an executive director or communications director right now. And the chair of our country party was running for Fort Worth mayor, so the country party might be lacking leadership, too.
The Dem I endorsed, Shawn Lassiter, I tried multiple times to get in touch with her campaign and no response.
The only candidate that personally reached out to me, (Ima precinct chair), was Lydia Bean, and I just didnt think she was progressive enough.

(28,877 posts)It looks as though they gave up before it started.
I thought Beto and Fair Fight were working here in Texas,
but it's clear we really need a better, more comprehensive
ground game.

(25,563 posts)It also lost Democratic support in 2020 as compared to 2018. The Democrat got only 44% of the vote
2020 United States House of Representatives elections: Texas District 6 Party
Republican Ron Wright (incumbent) 179,507 52.8 -0.3
Democratic Stephen Daniel 149,530 44.0 -1.4
Libertarian Melanie A. Black 10,955 +1.7
Trump carried the district by only 3 points in November, every other statewide Republican candidate, including U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, won it by more comfortable margins ranging from 6 to 8 points.
Campaign resources are limited....

(22,274 posts)over prior elections for president but the downticket suffered. We did not take out any additional TX House seats, which hurt us a LOT. There was a lot of Republican ticket splitting going on; they either skipped the top line or voted for Biden then voted the whole downticket Republican.
