Carol Donovan, Dallas County Democratic leader, resigning

Dallas County Democratic chairwoman Carol Donovan is leaving her post later this year after a replacement is selected among party leaders.

Donovan led the party for six years.

In a statement, she said the COVID-19 related death of her mother earlier this year forced her to reflect on her priorities.

“After the 2020 election, I was energized and ready to run for re-election in 2022. However, the death of my mother of COVID-19 in January 2021 helped me focus on the finiteness of life and the limited time we all have to cherish what is most important to us,” she said.
