Joel Osteen's 'Today Show' appearance to promote his new book did not go over well

Houston megachurch pastor Joel Osteen went on "The Today Show" to talk about his new book, "Peaceful on Purpose," but it brought anything but peace to Twitter today.

Resident tweeters reacted very strongly to Osteen's appearance, sending his name to Twitter's trending topics list.

And seemingly none of those reactions were positive, especially when Osteen, a guy that sure has a lot, offered advice to viewers that included, “Don’t focus on what you have or don’t have" in order to live a peaceful life.

Several brought up Osteen's lackluster response (to put it lightly) during Hurricane Harvey.

I wonder what Olsteen would say about these bible verses.

Some:

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist. When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.

“But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.

"I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people" (Romans 16:17-18)

24, Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.

Since physics would hinder any camel to pass through the eye of a needle...

OSTEEN IS FUCKED

Enjoy that plane ride mutha-fucka...it's all you got.

All of this would be true if I believed in god...sky fairy says boo.

and came upon the today show (or whatever it is) and they were introducing *him.* ugh

i took a sip of coffee and watched him talking -- kept thinking it's easy for you to fucking relax and be positive since you've got all that fucking money. thought of how he didn't want to open up his church to help out during hurricane harvey. they cut to jenna and hoda smiling, talking, laughing, WHATEVER.
i wondered why the fuck the network was promoting this piece of crap.
CLICK.
what an asshole
