Former Williamson County deputy, a 'Live PD' star, faces charges for his response to domestic violence victim
GEORGETOWN A former Williamson County sheriffs deputy once featured on the reality show Live PD and involved in at least three controversial force incidents has been charged with assault and official oppression for his encounter with a domestic violence victim in September 2019.
The incident involving Lorenzo Hernandez, who voluntarily left the force in late 2020, received no public attention until reporting last fall from by the American-Statesman and KVUE-TV during a months-long investigation of the agency. Hernandez is the sixth person, including the countys former sheriff, to face criminal charges in the wake of that investigation. In all, 10 felony and misdemeanor charges have been filed in connection with crimes officials say were related to work with the Williamson County sheriffs office.
"They just got bolder and bolder and bolder, until we got where we are today," said Sheriff Mike Gleason, who took office in January after running on a platform of restoring public confidence in county policing. "This is not how we conduct our business."
Hernandez could not immediately be reached for comment Monday. It was not clear who his attorney is.
