They intended to harass and intimidate people who want to participate in democracy.
One man even approached Beto under the pavilion, while he was speaking and shouted that he was a "traitor." A traitor for registering people to vote.
Dont think Democracy is under attack? Heres the proof.

(3,816 posts)brownshirt tactics we will be seeing ramp up in the next few years. Trump, et al. are following the nazi playbook. Expect much more violence in the future.

(5,275 posts)These white America First types have been around all along.
Been reading the book Behold America by Sarah Churchwell, where she points this out with example after example.
Of course its all built on a lie.....that we white people were the original inhabitants here....we were not. One recent cartoon pointed that out, showing a wingnut ranting that America should only be inhabited by the original inhabitants.....and a Native American woman beside him saying Ill help you pack.
You Trumpsters are so, So tone deaf.

(3,495 posts)I just don't think the folks on the other side will cross over this line. We'd be talking deep south 1950-60s tactics that wound up eventually undoing Jim Crow to some extent. Now if they do, then I'll be the first to admit you're right.
What we're more likely to see is the implementation of complex voting procedures meant to spoil more Democratic votes than Republicans, starving local resources to increase voter waiting times in Democratic leaning areas (to discourage voting) along with similar tactics to make it take more time to actually vote in blue areas versus red.
To counter this Democrats need to organize and keep people engaged and aware that their right to vote is being infringed upon. Help folks navigate voting obstacles imposed on the most marginally involved areas (low voter participation). And ensure that voting times and resources are more fairly distributed; rural areas should not have more voting machines and polling places per capita than urban and suburban areas.
