Port Neches mayor sounds off on refinery's noise study; plays troubling recording

When it came to discussing refinery noise, Port Neches Mayor Glenn Johnson was polite — but he was also prepared.

At this week’s city council meeting, representatives of Air Liquide were in attendance to present the findings of a five-week sound study following a multitude of noise complaints by residents.

The study, which ended April 25, began on March 1 — the same day the Port Neches facility announced a four-to-five day period of noise elevation as the industrial gas supplier completed site outages.

I doubt that the mayor was willing to relinquish his phone indefinitely and he might also be concerned about any other files that he had on his phone. I know that I'm reluctant to let a stranger borrow my phone to make a call even when I'm on a bus and that was prior to COVID being an issue.

It may have been beyond the capabilities of the reporter to download that sound, then upload it back to their site via a SoundCloud.
