SWAT team storms Colorado City building, captures three I-20 shooting suspects
COLORADO CITY Just after midnight today, a SWAT deployed stun grenades at the front door of a building where three had been barricaded for about nine hours, securing all three without shots fired.
The three men Monday morning had fled from a Department of Public safety trooper eastbound on Interstate 20 in Mitchell County after firing shots at him and evaded captured for almost 18 hours.
After the darkened building described as a private cafe on Austin street, just south of Business 20 had been surrounded by law enforcement and a DPS helicopter illuminated the structure, SWAT team members just after midnight launched their assault. They successfully entered and took the three men into custody without incident.
