Harris Co. Dem. Chair slams Greg Abbott 'A.S.S. tax' as prices rise due to border inspections

Greg is using stunts to try to win the next election. These stunts are hurting Texans

Following reports that the new policy is causing delays and supply chain issues, the Harris County Democratic Party released a statement Wednesday from Chair Odus Evbagharu in which the he called the directive "political theater, pure and simple."

"As policy, it is an utter disaster serving only as an attempt to woo far-right voters," Evbagharu said. "Unfortunately, the governor's decision to pursue this directive will have far-reaching repercussions for businesses and consumers."

Evbagharu continued, saying the Republican leader is contributing to supply-chain issues which will result in product shortages and higher prices for consumers and businesses. He called the price hike the "Abbott Supply-Chain Surcharge," or "A.S.S. tax."

"Because of the governor's political games, consumers will be forced to pay an 'Abbott Supply Chain Surcharge' on goods, and the A.S.S. tax is going to take a chunk out of all our wallets," Evbagharu said. "Abbott's latest political stunt comes at a high cost and demonstrates — once again — that the governor has utter disregard for the lives and livelihoods of Texans."
