Texas state representative charged with DWI after crash
A state representative was arrested early Thursday following a crash near downtown that injured three people.
Naomi Gonzalez, 34, D-El Paso, has been charged with driving while intoxicated, records show.
Police say Gonzalez crashed into another vehicle that struck a cyclist about 2 a.m. at the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Barton Springs Road.
Gonzalez was traveling south on Congress at an estimated 50 mph when her BMW rear-ended a Fiat, which rolled forward and struck a woman on a bicycle, Austin police and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Service officials said.
