Half of Ted Cruz’s political claims are false, PolitiFact reports

Since his arrival on the national political scene, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has been making headlines.

He has become a hero to many on the right because of his relentless attacks on the Obama administration and his aggressive brand of constitutional conservatism. But liberals have likened the outspoken Houston Republican to the late Joe McCarthy, dubbed him the Senate’s “biggest loser” and, now point to the PolitiFact web site’s finding that he, well, often doesn’t tell the truth.

PolitiFact is a Pulitzer prize winning project that rates the claims of office-seekers and office-holders. Its Texas branch is headed up by the Austin American-Statesman’s Gardner Selby, one of the most respected political reporters in the state capital.

To assess Cruz’s accuracy rate, PolitiFact investigated 14 of the senator’s statements and found that he wasn’t telling the truth 50 percent of the time.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/mar/21/ted-cruz/sen-ted-cruz-says-federal-government-thinks-it-has/

"The federal government thinks it has the right to regulate toilet seats!" said Cruz!

Well, yes, the feds do think they have the right to regulate toilet seats in certain situations.

Cruz’s former constitutional law professor at Harvard, Laurence Tribe, offered some examples where toilet seats are "obviously subject to federal regulation" under settled law:

• The commercial sale of toilet seats, like other commodities, in transactions involving an interstate market are subject to regulation under the Commerce Clause.

• The provision of adequate toilet facilities to workers in businesses affecting interstate commerce is subject to federal regulation under the Commerce Clause.

• Ensuring that toilet facilities, like others, are made available without regard to race or disability is subject to regulation under the Commerce Clause and equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.

Well, it's true that the feds think they have the right to regulate toilet seats in certain conditions, because they DO have the right.

But it's clear this is something that touches Cruz at a very deep level. He is, after all, a consummate asshole.

Specifically I want to see documented evidence that he has ever told the truth.

As hard as it is to believe that an idiot like this was elected to the US senate, it's even harder to believe he graduated from Harvard Law School.

He speaks eloquently in a pseudo intellectual fashion but most of the time he says little or even nothing at all. It just sounds "smart". But so much of the time, there is just nothing there but words. It's a put on that many people can't follow. Why? because it really makes no sense. But no RW will to admit that, thinking he must really be saying something.... important.
