Email from Loudoun Co. superintendent alerted school board on day of bathroom assault

The superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools sent a brief, confidential email to school board members on May 28 — the same day a female student at Stone Bridge High School said she was sexually assaulted in bathroom.

In an email provided to WTOP by the school system, Superintendent Scott Ziegler alerted the board that the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the incident, but provided few details.

“The purpose of this email is to provide you with information regarding an incident that occurred at Stone Bridge HS. This afternoon a female student alleged that a male student sexually assaulted her in the restroom. The LCSO is investigating the matter,” Ziegler wrote.

Didn’t he previously claim at a school board meeting that he wasn’t aware of any assaults in school bathrooms?

I just can't imagine lying in front of a room full of people. He's got a phd (in education).

I'm kind of annoyed that he's responding like this is all politics. I hate that. This is about telling the truth and doing the right thing.

Why on earth would he deny a sexual assault? I am sure this happens in other schools in the country. You call the police and get an investigation. It doesn’t reflect badly on the school unless you cover it up like they did in this situation. Doesn’t make sense at all.

... it appears that his explanation is that the question came up in the context of adjusting bathroom policies in the district. He interpreted the question to be asking whether there had been a problem with transgender youth assaulting others in the bathrooms. Not whether there had been any assaults at all.

Of course, this potentially complicates the issue, because the assault in question was in a bathroom and was allegedly committed by a biological male wearing a skirt. Of course, we don't know who the person was or their gender identity.

for his daughter, he would have to remain quiet.

This whole thing is a disaster.

The same commonwealth’s attorney prosecuted both the dad and the daughter’s rapist. She pressed for jail time for the dad… but implied that the daughter might be lying and allowed the rapist to just get an electronic monitor (the rapist then went on to assault another girl).
