Governor and Health Commissioner Issue Public Health Emergency Order to Enforce 10-Patron Limit
Order gives law enforcement the ability to enforce 10-patron limit in restaurants, fitness centers, and theaters

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam and State Health Commissioner M. Norman Oliver, MD, MA today issued a public health emergency order prohibiting more than 10 patrons in restaurants, fitness centers, and theaters. The order gives local and state law enforcement the ability to enforce this ban, which was announced by the Governor earlier today, if needed.

“I hope that everyone will have the common sense to stay home tonight and in the days ahead,” said Governor Northam. “This order will ensure that state and local officials have the tools they need to keep people safe.

The full text of the order is available here.

There are so many people out at the stores, still. It’s interesting psychologically...

How is it down where you are?

I am old and have several other risk factors so have been in the house for the most part. I can sit on my front porch and yell get off my lawn for entertainment and social interaction when the TV and internet are used up.

TJ had to go to the doctor yesterday. She said traffic was normal. I went and picked her Rx up but used the drive through at the Kroger. The parking lot there looked busy. I also went to the eye doctor for my nagging case of conjunctivitis. It was deserted there and he fresh gloved before he touched me.

We are going tomorrow to do our last shopping for a while. If the place is crazy we will only get our Rx in the pharmacy and OTC medicines we can't pick up at the drive through. I've been waiting for my shingles vaccine for months and they finally have it. I am waffling as to getting it or not.

I have noticed that the groups of kids I expected to be roaming the streets with no school are very few. Perhaps the parents are stepping up more than I expected.

Making a point of getting anyplace as soon as the doors open so there’s as little virus as possible aerosolized. I’ve been wearing a doubled over winter gator/scarf thing around my mouth and nose to at least provide a bit of a barrier.

I’ve been reading up on the virus a lot and apparently since it camps out in the nasal passages while it’s first replicating, using saline nasal spray can help. I found a couple brands that have antiviral ingredients in the spray, in case you want to pick that up in the pharmacy: one is called Xlear (it has grapefruit seed oil, which kills viruses) and the other is Betadine cold defence - it has carrageenan which has also been shown to kill viruses. I got the Xlear at Harris Teeter.

Planning to stay put until the first positive case shows up at my mom’s assisted living, then I’m going to high tail it up there and bring her to the house.

Stay safe, amigo!
