A Multi-Media Presentation by Julian Bond:

Presentation and Dessert Reception
Saturday, April 7, 2012

Share a very special evening with Mr. Julian Bond. He will present a multi-media examination of the birth of rock and roll through the lens of the history of American music. Using image and song, Mr. Bond will trace the melding of jazz, blues, country, and pop music into rock & roll, stopping along the way to examine the influences of race, demographics, war, immigration, and technology.
From his student days as a founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to his former position as Chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Mr. Bond has been a leader in the movements for civil rights, economic justice, racial equality, and peace. A holder of 26 honorary degrees, he is a Distinguished Professor at American University, Washington, DC, and a Professor of History at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

Dessert reception begins at 6:00 pm
Presentation at 7:00 pm
