Thurston County retailers are reopening for business -- curbside, that is

After largely being closed since mid-March, retailers can now expand how they do business during the COVID-19 pandemic after Gov. Jay Inslee announced new rules earlier this month.

Previously restaurants and bars were among those businesses that could only offer curbside service, but as of May 8 that has been extended to all retailers, such as gift shops, book stores, bridal shops and others, including those in the Olympia area.

And it’s a welcome development because business had dropped off dramatically for those merchants.

Courtney Foreman, owner of Olympia-based bridal shop, Weddings With Joy, said she met only 10 percent of her sales goal in April.
