Dry heat and winds bring season's first fire weather warning

SEATTLE — Strong winds and a dry heat are raising the possibility of brush and wildfires in Snohomish County and beyond, forecasters say.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to bring the highest temperatures — with some areas of the county hitting 90 degrees — while sustained gusts are set to peak Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.

“The atmosphere is going to be very dry,” meteorologist Carly Kovacik said. “We just want people to be careful if they’re going to be spending time outdoors.”

Fire weather conditions are expected to last through Wednesday, and maybe into Thursday, she added.
