Wash. state in 'red zone' for new COVID cases, White House report says
Washington state now ranks in the most dangerous COVID-19 "red zone" following an explosion of new cases across the state, according to a new White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing for governors obtained by ABC News.
The briefing, which has guidance tailored for each state thats more specific than what the administration releases to the public, shows that coronavirus cases are increasing across much of the state, from the coast to the Inland Empire.
"Washington continued to break records for new daily cases over the past two weeks. Washington is in the red zone for cases, indicating 101 or more new cases per 100,000 population," the briefing states.
But the situation could be worse. The briefing reports that many states are in worse shape than Washington, including the Dakotas, Iowa and Colorado, all of which have seen a "relentless" increase in recent days.
