Seattle to see temperatures in the high 80s, low 90s next week
Seattle is in for another spell of hot weather.
A strong upper ridge will bring dry weather to the region next week, the National Weather Service in Seattle wrote in its Friday forecast discussion. Temperatures will warm with record highs possible Thursday and Friday of next week.
Mary Butwin, a meteorologist in the weather services Seattle office, said temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s Wednesday and then remain in the low to mid 90s on Thursday and Friday. Butwin said its possible that the area will see triple-digit temperatures, but stopped short of calling it a certainty.
In June, the Pacific Northwest was ravaged by a heat wave that killed nearly 100 people. On June 28, Seattle broke a record for the highest temperature ever recorded by the National Weather Service here: 108 degrees. The previous high of 105 degrees had been set in July 2009.
