While Canada has reopened to vaccinated U.S. travelers, ferry service remains suspended

Though Canada reopened its border to fully vaccinated U.S. travelers on Monday, the ferry terminals serving travelers to British Columbia from Washington state remain closed.

Canada has suspended service at eight of the nine ferry terminals near the U.S.-Canadian border as of Aug. 10, according to the Canada Border Services Agency. Those suspended include the Washington State Ferry Terminal in Sidney and the Blackball Terminal and Belleville Terminal in Victoria, British Columbia.

Meanwhile, the U.S. border will remain closed to Canadians until Aug. 21.

Clipper Vacations, which operates the ferries between Seattle and Victoria, has not resumed ferry services between the two cities.

1. Once across the border, folks can use BC ferries to get to the island.

Just a 30 minute drive from Peace Arch to the ferry terminal - make sure you have a reservation, especially if it’s a weekend.

BC ferries are much nicer and larger than the Black Ball any way.
