Study: Washington state has second-highest number of IT jobs in the US

While the COVID-19 pandemic caused a severe uptick in unemployment claims, one industry remained largely untouched: IT.

In fact, according to Forbes Magazine, software and IT jobs are expected to boom in 2021 and double within 10 years, with technology remaining one of the fastest-growing sectors across the U.S.

Utilizing data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), VPNOverview, a website dedicated to VPNs, online privacy, security, and internet freedom, recently conducted a study that assessed IT job growth in the U.S. It also looked at the areas of the country best for IT/tech jobs and which position titles pay the most.

While California, with its infamous Silicon Valley, is the expected number-one state for IT jobs, the study found that Washington D.C. actually took the number one spot for the highest concentration of IT jobs per capita followed by Washington, which had the second-highest number of IT positions per 10,000 residents.
