Snohomish barber set to explain decision to keep cutting at start of COVID pandemic
SNOHOMISH, Wash. A Snohomish barber who refused to close his doors last year to comply with the state's stay home order at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to go before two separate judges to answer about his actions.
Bob Martin, an outspoken veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, owns and operates the Stag Barbershop that is tucked away in the middle of a strip mall.
When the state and counties began issuing health orders that resulted in the temporary closure of many businesses like barbershops and gyms, Martin defied a cease-and-desist notice he received from the state attorney general's office last year.
Im not going to let the parasites in Olympia tell me that I cannot work, Martin told KOMO News Thursday. Its my right to work.

Mr. Martin amassed $90,000 i fines with the Department of Licensing for failing to comply with the closure order. The $90,000 fine was paid with a promissory note so its a done deal, Martin said. The state says the promissory note does not satisfy his debt.
