'Atmospheric river' to bring up to 2 inches of rain to Western Washington before Halloween cold fron

Enjoy the brief break in wet weather on Wednesday because even more rain is about to get dumped on Western Washington. However, things should begin to dry out and cool down over Halloween weekend.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle is currently predicting that an "atmospheric river" will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain to the interior lowlands through Friday morning.

"Expect persistent rain across the region tonight through Friday with heavy accumulations across the Olympics and Northern and Central Cascades potentially yielding river flooding," wrote NWS in their Wednesday forecast briefing. "Drier air arrives late Friday with dry and cooler conditions for the weekend."

The rainfall is expected to begin Wednesday night and last through Thursday evening, with Seattle to receive 1.5 to 2 inches of rain during that period. The mountain passes could see closer to 2 to 3 inches of rain through Friday morning, but significant snowfall is currently not expected.

I see too many sand bars and possible choke points where the water hasn’t been able to flow!
