(60,010 posts)You didn't say where you were driving from.

North of Everett is Mt.Vernon and they are warning the Skagit river will be flooding.

I-5 traffic north is closed if you are heading towards Bellingham, other side roads are closed due to flooding/landslide danger, I-5 South is closed just above Bellingham. Come daylight, there will be a LOT of traffic returning South from Whatcom County.
The major highway around the Olympic Peninsula is closed in many places.
Snow warnings for the passes over Cascades.
In short, due to weather and then due to construction re: cleanup, I wouldn't plan on going anywhere north of Seattle.

(10,281 posts)I usually try to time going thru Seattle around noon when traffic isnt too bad and the express lanes are open. Yeah Ive been reading about the Skagit and Mt Vernon. I know that town is expecting floods but I think I5 would be ok but right now its closed north of there up towards Bellingham with mud slides and trees down. Ill check in the morning for sure but I think theyd prioritize getting I5 open.
Thanks. If you get any more info please share.

(10,281 posts)If I stick to my plan Id be up there about 2-3 pm. But I wont do it if it seems to risky. I have non refundable reservations but Id eat the cost before doing something stupid. And maybe theyd refund given the situation. Sounds to me like the hotels ought to be pretty full with people stuck there. Thanks

(7,701 posts)and that they'd re-evaluate in the morning. But the rivers are supposed to be highest at 4 pm today. Take care!
