(4,999 posts)But there were no widespread water shortages. That is normal, where we have very dry days but plenty of water fed by snow pack. Problem is a lot of vegetation is not hydrated by the snow melt, and it will dry down in severe heat. We were very lucky to not have more very major forest fires than we did!
We typically have very dry months in the summer, and can have real gully washers in the winter months. It doesn't usually flood in most areas, but I think every winter there are a couple of rivers that flood.
We got a heck of a lot of rainfall last week, and some very strong sustained winds (20-25 mph) for a couple of days. Fortunately it was cold enough in the mountains that a fair amount of it was snow, but there was also a lot of rain. Caused some significant mudslides here and up in British Columbia too.
